Social Adult Day Care

August 11, 2020 - This message serves as a reminder that pursuant to Mayoral Emergency Executive Order (EEO) No. 100 § 17, issued on March 16, 2020, all older adult congregate centers operating within the City, whether publicly or privately owned or funded, are closed and all programs suspended, except to the extent necessary to prepare and distribute meals to older adults.

It has come to the attention of the New York City Department for the Aging Social Adult Day Care Ombuds Office that some Social Adult Day Care (SADC) programs are open and are inviting members to return to their congregate sites for in-person services. As stated in our previous correspondence on March 18, 2020 and July 22, 2020, section 17 of EEO 100 remains in effect to ensure the health and safety of older adults during this emergency. Until the Mayor amends or rescinds the directive in EEO 100, all SADCs operating within New York City are prohibited from resuming in-person services.

Please be aware that any SADC found to be operating while section 17 of EEO 100 is in effect is subject to appropriate enforcement action, including the issuance of violations or proceedings to close the establishment.
